Twitter Is Worth $4 Billion? Since When?

December 1, 2010 · 2 comments

According to the sources over at TechCrunch, Twitter has just reached a staggering $4 Billion valuation in less then 2 years:

It was recently reported that Twitter was in the midst of re-financing its operation and the expected valuation was in the $3 billion range. Well apparently things have changed.

Russian firm DST, amongst others, have recently submitted offers to invest, valuing the company above $3 billion, say multiple sources. But the current leader, and likely winner, is Kleiner Perkins. And the likely valuation when the smoke clears will be close to $4 billion.

You know because what’s another billion?

Alpha investor and Kleiner investor John Doerr is leading the pack, sources say, and shows no signs of letting up. “Doerr wants to own part of Twitter, And Doerr generally gets what he wants.”

Word is is this isn’t the end of negotiations, with more bidders expected to come forth and try to gain ownership of the social giant.

In other words, people with a lot of money making more money. Got it.
